SALA Play-offs will take place the weekend of June 21 & 22 at the following arenas:
Midget – Lethbridge Adams
Bantam – Lethbridge Labor Club
Bantam Consolation – Strathmore
Pee Wee – Medicine Hat Kin 1
Pee Wee Consolation – Medicine Hat Kin 2
Novice – Brooks
For the Novice Division, all teams will be included in the play-offs and teams will be seeded based on the regular season standings.
For the Pee Wee and Bantam Divisions there will be 8 teams in the play-off tournament and 5 teams in the Consolation Tournament. Based on the regular season standings the top five teams in each division will advance to the play-offs. The bottom two teams in each division will automatically advance to the consolation tournament. The six middle teams in the standings will have weekday play-downs to determine who advances.
During the week prior to June 21, the following teams will play a one game play-down with the higher ranking team holding venue:
6th vs. 9th 7th vs 10th 8th vs 11th
These games are to be arranged by the coaches and reported to the SALA Age Coordinator. The winning team from each of these games will advance to the play-off tournament and the losing team will advance to the consolation tournament. If a game is tied at the end of regulation, the teams will change ends and play 20 minutes sudden victory. The game will continue until a goal is scored.
In the Midget Division, the play-offs will be an 8 team tournament. During the week prior to the play-offs the 8th place and 9th place team will have a one-game play-down with the winner advancing to the play-off tournament. The 8th place team will have venue. If the two teams are more than 200 km apart, the game will be played at a neutral location in between with the 8th place team being designated as the home team.
The schedules the play-off tournaments have been designed to allow for travel so that teams do not have to stay overnight if they do not want to.
